first off im not 100% sure that the patch would obviate cold storage. but it it does its ahuge deal. dont worry wbout training nurses and needles, that costs pocket change compared to cold freight PLUS the amount of vaccine that turns out useless when it isnt stored properly in the target country. also, because the vaccines not stored at the right temp range (which have therefore become useless) generally end up being used because the problem often isnt spotted (vaccines in aqueous form need to be kept in a very narrow temp range, not just "cold"), populations in target zones receive patchy immunization that undermines the whole eradication goal severely.
elimination of cold storage reqs for vaccines is a monster leap.
