I have said before that I hold DRE because I see it as a potential miner. I use DRE to do relative value trading with LYC. I see DRE as being at the stage now which I saw LYC many years ago. I started work as an Industrial chemist. I worked with a chemist that developed a method of extracting Cerium from the monazite which was present in mineral sands. This is the same method that is used by Lynas today. I trade on the basis that if DRE goes down and Lynas goes up, I buy DRE and sell LYC. If DRE goes up and Lynas goes down then I sell DRE and buy LYC. That way I get "freebies" with each change over. It's working out OK.
My son in law introduced me to Lynas. He was working for Barrick gold and shared a fly in fly out with Lynas workers. He knew my interest in rare earths. He used to have weekend barbecues with them. I got the inside story on what was happening, including the Curtis goings on. I was also active with a group stopping the sale to the Chinese. He also spoke well of the Lynas staff.
I like to invest in something I know a little bit about their product and their staff. I like what I see. I hope that the minerals prove to be there in quantities that will make DRE a great investment. All prospecting is a gamble, but the odds are better for some that for others.
