China Metallurgical Mining Corporation (hereinafter referred to as CMMC) was established in 1986, now under the State Capital Supervisory Committee of the State Council. Its predecessor is the Mining Corporation, Ministry of Metallurgical Industry which is a department responsible for the work of the national metallurgical mining enterprise. After the reforming of state institution, it becomes a big enterprise being directly under the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. At the present time, 12 countrywide iron and steel enterprises such as Anshan iron and steel corporation, Benxi iron and steel corporation, Baoshan iron and steel corporation, Wuhan iron and steel corporation, Hanxing metallurgical mining administrative bureau and Luzhong iron and steel corporation having stock in CMMC. 10 enterprises are directly subordinated to the corporation, 2 sub-institutions and 8 holding enterprises. Its operating scope is involved in multiple fields. The total volume of property assessment is more than 500 million yuan RMB. There are more than 200 people are professional and technical staffs in all kinds of fields in the company.

The purpose of the corporation is ?serving the state institutions, serving all social circles, relying on mining industry, diversifying operation and developing in all-round way?. Under the guiding of this purpose, the company has become a comprehensive, multi-functional and industrial enterprise by taking foreign trade as the major operation and combing with the mining investment at home and abroad. Furthermore, it develops mineral further processing as pillar integrating it with trade, science, construction and production.
