Who knows what's going on in the background? The fact is, the DRC has so far done nothing to protect AVZ's rights. The politicians responsible probably received a lot of bribes to clear the way for the Chinese. Corruption could reach all the way to the top.
It is questionable whether the international court hearings can have a positive influence on the government's decisions. Nobody knows. But one thing is certain, future investment in the DRC from the West will decline rapidly. The trust is lost. From now on only expensive Chinese money will rob the country, the population will not get anything from the wealth of the natural resources, the corrupt elite will become even richer and the social unrest will sooner or later lead to an overthrow of the power elites.
