There has been a lot of noise about EV range affected by heavy load. However nothing has been said what happens on an ICE.
About the only info I found is that 100 extra pounds increases fuel consumption by 2%. So 100 pounds is 45kg, and if the formula can be extrapolated, assuming it is for cars, then a load of 900 kg would increase fuel consumption by 40%. Surely someone planning a long trip would need to take this into account.
Does anybody know of any authoritative figures for a proper comparison?
