Soul is the human expression of spirit which is unique to humans This is clarified in the Matthew verse. As you do very well wotsup, you need to consider these verses together. When saying "your whole" it implies a connection between the 3 in this realm of existence, but the spiritual aspect is who we are in reality. The Genesis quote implies that it is THE human soul that gives life to the body, which it does, but at death it is separated and our reality continues after death because the soul is our true reality. The question mark in Ecc 3:21 clearly talks about the fact we do not know the nature of spirit. It is a reality that cannot be described using language of material reality, so "who knoweth?" Heaven help you if your soul is immortal. Heaven is a soul that enjoys spiritual near access to God. Hell is a soul who is distant from God. So heaven help a soul that is immortal and is distant from God. I can't imagine a more painful existence. "Are you aware of any verses that show......that something of us goes somewhere, other than the spirit returning to God?" Isn't your spirit going to God the same as you going somewhere? You would sorrow if your immortal soul is in hell. That's what 1Thes 4 is referring to. Kam

"You would sorrow if your immortal soul is in hell. That's what 1Thes 4 is referring to." You seem to have missed the point on that one? Basically, they are asleep and have gone no where, until they have been literally raised in some form, which goes against what you claim.
