Current largest prison is only about 1100 compared to the proposed 1500 inmates at Northam however Australia has had larger prisons before.

I think Norfolk Island and Port Arthur may have been larger than the proposal for Northam. WA had large prison camps during WW2 to house Italian POWs and internees. These were run by the army.

There will have to be a large number of guards and warders for Northam around the clock. Where will the government source these people from with enough training?

The local Northam police station could not possibly cope with a breakout. Will the army be used as backup?
