morning tasboy,
I don't use etrade, I use comsec - it is the same thing.
However, you can override it - it will cost you a little more in brokerage though. You can place a phone order - you need to inform the operator when they tell you that it is outside the limit - you tell them they have the power to override it - what happens then is they either know how to do it and do it - or they don't know what to do and ask their supervisor - they always know how to do it.
I have done it many times - usually under a price not over a price.
You could of course also set a conditional bid going if etrade allows it.
As to rebel's suggestion of an at market order - no you can't place an at marked order out of hours - at least not with comsec, I guess it is the same with others?? I could be re-educated on that last bit though.
have a great weekend
