Just dropped in to post a link to a very informative article covering the many problems with Chinese Lepidolite being used as a source for Lithium chemicals. The article is a first hand account of what is happening in China and is very enlightening. Very much worth sharing and considering the content in the context of whether China can continue to use Lepidolite as a source for Lithium at the scale that they have over the last couple of years.

The article linked below gives the best, detailed rundown of the problems associated with Chinese Lepidolite as a source for Lithium. It is a fairly long article but it is really worthwhile reading to the end! It covers a number of negative aspects to using Lepidolite - from the low Lithium concentration, how much needs to be processed to produce a Tonne of Lithium chemicals, the huge amount of waste generated, how hazardous that waste is, the issues with tailings dams, the massive "stacking" of waste product that they have no chance of getting rid of, etc. Some really insightful stuff! The article is a firsthand account and is in Chinese so you will need to translate it using Google Translator when you open up the article (or any other translator that you see fit). I'm actually surprised that the article is still accessible considering the damning content! It was posted on 2/4/2024 so also quite recent.
