re: racial vilification - the work of sunny joe Okay, let's see if I have got this right? The land that is in dispute was part of greater Jordan that was eventually controlled by the British. It was partitioned in 1948 into a place called Israel which was to be a homeland for the Jews. The Jews and the Palestinians are from the same race but have different religions and they lived together. The Jews had their act together and were better at developing things and making money giving the Muslims work and income. But as the Muslim neighbours didn't like what had been done in setting up Israel they vowed to destroy it thus the conflict began. The Jews beat the Muslims in all the wars and, having the upper hand, gave land to the new settlers from Russia and other places. This land was inhabited by Arafat's defeated Muslims and was not part of Israel. Because the Jews had superior organisation and weaponry they could do as they pleased. Meanwhile, the Palestinians (Arafat's Muslims) were really cheesed off and having little in the way of military used suicide bombers as their main offensive weapon thus bringing us to the situation as it is today. Now there is a country with a great wall around it and people's houses and olive groves are getting bulldozered on the other side of it. Attempts at peace have been made in the past and were nearly reached, but the Israeli prime minister was assassinated by one of his own people and things never progressed from there. Now both sides just hate each other. Thus ends my understanding.
