yes there remains such a problem but at least today the participants are able to register a complaint, have it taken seriously and action taken (hopefully). I was 16 when I started work at a state run "hospital", a care home for hundreds of people with various disabilities. it didn't take me long to realise that some of the 'kids' had reasonably 'normal' intellect but had pshycial disabilities which prevented them from communicating. the initial disgust at the place, the confinement, the herding of crops of 10 around the ward, the rigid routine, lack of facilities to help the people grow and gain strength....... and yes, the abuse.
the NDIS had become a system for rorting Wang. the questions on pricing are now being asked. we've had some answers. I just hope it does get better. the system that grew from the intention to help those kids stand up on their own.... was corrupted .
