The problem is the implementation of an ideology that has no basis in reality.

You need look no further than France, with its relentless pursuit of the secular ideology from the time of its revolution and the birth of the 'enlightenment', a period of philosophic growth by the middle class from which were spawned, amongst other 'ideas', communism and fascism.

Whilst the middle classes indulged in endless idealistic debate the working classes went suffered.

Neither communism or fascism are connected with religion yet were responsible for enormous loss and suffering of human life.
