I don’t think it’s quite right to say Australia can’t compete on wages. Yes our wages are a bit higher than Korea and China. But a recent McKinsey study into Australia’s lithium supply chain analysed the cost of various lithium sources and refining/conversion supply chains across the key lithium geographies. The clear result was that Australia does have indeed have a unique cost advantage over all other countries to produce battery grade product. I have to dig out the study and post it here.
The point being that LTR presents arguably the western world’s best source around which to build downstream components here in Australia.
