@fuhc46 - that author spent a lot of time working in China - so no surprises there really !!!!
I think global trade with China (CCP) is like a "choke chain" - do / say anything we don't like and they will pull the chain (beef, crayfish, wine, etc). We use to send a lot of our "plastic" recycling there for processing but under their "National Sword Policy" - China comes first.
That is the why soft plastics (and some hard ones) now just go to landfill here in AU - how about apply tariffs to "overly plastic packaged" goods / items and invest those tariff dollars to get the recycling industry moving here in AU. We do have some recycling - like outdoor furniture, etc made from recycled plastics but people should stop buying cheap s$%^ from China.
And a lot of the "Australia Day" paraphernalia, guess where that is made and people buy this garbage - sending more $$$$ to China
