Combined with Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, MacDonalds and Travellers, the five caused a 193 point drop on the DOW, with Microsoft and Caterpillar combining to add 76 points.
The Advance/Decline Ratio was an anaemic 0.33.
For comparison, in DOW equivalent points, the S&P and Nas closed +36 and +260 respectively.
