The DVA process wasn't improved by the LNP slashing their staff, then replacing that trained staff with contractors and consultants that turned over faster than they were trained.

Blind Freddy could tell you that. The unpaid $6.5 Billion should also tell you that. And it won't help suicide rates.

The ALP have started rebuilding the Department, but after a decade of LNP hackery it's going to be a long process.

Then in Dutton's budget reply he said he'd slash public servant staff again.

It was one of the pillars of his "policy".

As far as I can tell, Dutton wants to do that because when the government hires a consultant for $50k a month, and the consulting firm sends a graduate that they pay $50k a year, that leaves a nice bucket of money that can be donated to the LNP. Straight from the taxpayer.

That makes the issue political.
