@daveironore thanks for the link; I had missed that.
A few random energy thoughts off the top of my head; (some of the following is VERY basic BUT I share it in the hope it might be of interest to some & stimulate thoughts and maybe a debate?)
1. I am about to get a 10.5kWat solar system installed (I am a bit late to the solar party for one reason or another BUT consideration of it has helped crystalise some of my attitudes.
2. So I am going to have this massive generation capacity sitting on my roof that can supply all my power need WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING.
3. With the proliferation of solar Excess power is worth virtually nothing these days and the excess generating capacity is basically wasted.
4. If only there was a form of battery that could store that energy .... there is unfortunately currently NO commercially feasible means of storing that energy IMO. The Tesla type systems are still VERY expensive and the large network type systems such as Snowy Hydro 2 are great in theory BUT I conclude are too expensive and unlikely to be very feasible in the foreseeable future. My mind keeps pondering ways of storing energy & I reckon over the coming decade there will be lots of "community scale" ways that we will learn to "store energy" e.g. pumping excess storm water during :"sunny times" to an existing storage and the creating hydro power by releasing the water over night .... repeat every day.
5. Just my rambling's BUT I am looking at simple systems where I live & I keep a "watchful eye and an open mind." My most promising mini scheme is Anglesea golf club uses recycled water pumped up a hill from a treatment plat to a storage reservoir. if you did that all day using "FREE" solar and then overnight use the same pipe and run the water back down to a little hydro electric generator you have created a form of battery. (When I use the term "Free energy it of course does not allow for the depreciation of the infrastructure)
6. Another thought I have is that of course " the sun is shining and/or the wind is blowing" somewhere in the world at all times 24 hours / day. Why not create a world wide energy grid of renewables? Far fetched? Maybe not. Australia is currently in the feasibility phase of connecting the Oz power grid to Singapore!
7. NUCLEAR ENERGY: so many conflicting opinions and my jury is still out BUT I CONTINUE to be staggered at how pathetic the debate is regarding its future in Oz now that the libs have adopted it as a platform, HAVE THEY GIVEN even one decent discussion paper on their reasoning/ costing/ process? NO. Is the Labor response anything other than scare mongering. NO. PATHETIC IMO.
Stop me please .....
Just some ramblings that may be out of place here on a stock market forum?
