I suspect that some posters on this thread are public servants working in media departments, no show jobs, or similar. By the frequency of posts and spread of hours during which the site is used by some posters I suspect there are several individuals using the same nic. I have suspected this since several slightly different approaches are argued on different posts by the same nic.
I would support restricting posts to one or two per day. This would result in more thoughtful posts. This is a site for amateurs not the army of paid spin doctors. They have many chances to speak, here is their opportunity to listen.
I suspect that as this term of government progresses there will be increasingly defensive, strident and bitter criticism of the press and use of forums such as this. This is because the incumbent government will be frustrated in pursuing its agenda and resent criticism during that frustration. I note senator Conroy's criticism of The Australian already.
I think this forum serves a valuable purpose and is monitored by all political parties. In this way I think cogent arguments raised on this site, which will resonate with the population, have an audience in Canberra which is otherwise uncontactable.
This forum is a manifestation of the voice of the people in a new and effective medium. It is a fine example of freedom of expression which the political class will hate. Please keep it.
