Your comment seems overly harsh and dismissive. Historically, it’s accurate that before the Civil Rights Act of 1964, many Southern Democrats supported segregation. However, after the Act, there was a significant political realignment. Many white Southern voters who opposed civil rights began to shift their support to the Republican Party, a shift known as the “Southern Strategy.”Both major political parties have evolved over time. The views and policies of parties today are not necessarily reflective of their past. Civil rights advocacy and opposition have been present in various forms across both parties throughout history.
