They also claim that Lynas is cause for many of the price fluctuations. Lynas at about 8% of WW volume is not responsible. In fact about 2019 Lynas had 13%~14% of WW market today because of growth that Lynas has not kept up with they are about 8%.

It is not only Lynas MP's impact was way overrated. Talks a lot about MP but never makes it clear that China is still finishing most of their product Yes they are moving some back to US and even more to Vietnam but for right now it is mainly China

I also suspect that much of the weights used were the weight of the magnets. REE is only 27% of the weight in a magnet.
Much of the REE used in ships and plains is motors and generators. Perm magnets have advantages in weight and size and a small advantage in efficiency. all important in planes. .not so much in ships and subs. So the attitude that they are irreplicable is not so accurate. Even for planes the F$ phantom was one of the greatest fighters of its time. It had little or no perm magnets because there were none in the 1950s when it was designed. it would hurt a lot to not use REE but the idea the world stops without them is just not true. nothing in this world is ireplaceable it is just a mater of understanding what it costs not to use it.

Assuming China's output stays static which just will not happen it will continue to grow. The ROW producer will have to grow 5X to realy start to have a big impact. Right now China output is growing in both Tons and % of WW market. this is amazing for anybody that has nearly 90% of the total market.
