    This is ridiculous as it is exceptionally narrow minded.

    Just because they continue to expand fossil fuel generation does not mean solar/wind are not the future. China installed 217GW of solar in 2023. In 2022 this number was 87GW. By 2028 China is expected to have 47% of its entire grid powered from renewables.

    Just for comparison China opened 47.4GW of coal fired power capacity in 2023. Solar alone dwarfed this figure. If solar and wind were not economically viable China would not be installing them.

    It is a complete fallacy that wind and solar are expensive to produce power. Coal fired power plants are insanely expensive to bring online. Hydro is the cheapest form of electricity then wind and solar. The only benefit coal has these days is the fact it is more “reliable” but if you install enough wind turbines along a great enough area there will always be energy production somewhere. If the wind stops blowing across an entire continent you’ve got bigger problems than the lights going out.
