I am pleased to elaborate as you ask but not with one point but 2 and 4. The 4 is not numeric, but meta4, yours. Your imagery was the clown and with his dial tuned to perfomance the ex prime minister was certainly smiling the part.

The disparaging metaphor is easily redirected and one of the many reasons I enjoy this forum is to read and occasionally parody the distorted imagery of twisted armchair commentators.

Those carefully misdirected shoes were imagery in themselves and so appropriate in the context of a prime minister who fell from office after misleading his team. Had John Howard chosen to actually implement the agreed succession plan, he could reasonably have expected to retain a senior position in a Costello government. I am sure that Peter would have been pleased to appoint John the minister for funny walks.
