I eventually got out of cattle and one of the reasons was, you get too attached, give them names etc as they all have their own personalities etc.
I can still remember watching the ones going to the market, looking over the top of the cattle truck crates, like, what are you doing to me
Calving times, I would do night patrols if I knew one was close, to make sure all was well, because if not, you could loose a calve just like that, when a bit of help saves the day.
