    • On 23 March, the Mayor ofMotyzhyn,Olga Sukhenko, was killed by Russian forces.[115]
    • On 31 March,Oleksiy Tsybko, a rugby union player, was killed by Russian forces.[116]
    • On 2 April, theProsecutor General's office announced the death of photographerMaks Levindue to Russian small-arms fire outside Kyiv. He had disappeared on 13 March.[117]
    • On 28 April,Vira Hyrych, a journalist, was killed by Russian shelling in Kyiv.[118]
    • On 29 April, the Mariupol City Council reported that Alina Peregudova, 14, who won gold at Ukraine's national weightlifting championship in 2021 and was on course to represent Ukraine at the Olympics, was killed by Russian shelling in Mariupol. Her mother was also killed in the attack.[119][120]
    • On 30 April,Lyubov Panchenko, a fashion designer, died of starvation in Bucha.[121][122]
    • On 31 July,Oleksiy Vadaturskyi, an agricultural and grain logistics businessman and the founder ofNibulon, the largest grain logistic company in Ukraine, was killed by Russian shelling in Mykolaiv. His wife was also killed in the attack.[123]
    • On 12 October,Yurii Kerpatenko, principal conductor of theMykola Kulish Music and Drama Theatre [uk], was killed by Russian forces in his home inKherson.[124][125]

    Ukraine’s children and their families have endured 18 months of forced displacement, unthinkable loss, and relentless violence since the escalation of war in February 2022. At least 545 children have been killed – the equivalent of a child dying every day since the war escalated, mostly from bombardment. At least 1,156 children have been injured.
