Herbert was correct in the direction he took to identify particular industries that they could sell machines to (as 1 source of income), and to try to find joint ventures where the TTT expertise was required to assist the enterprise. I'm sure he also feels that TTT could manufacture parts in their own facilities. To manufacture parts there has to be a lot of collaboration and ideally a need for repeat parts (for repeat business). You would only get involved in manufacture in most businesses if there was repeat business, otherwise the effort just wouldn't be worth it. There may be some non repeatable items to manufacture but they would do this at an extreme profit and it would be a very large cost item. The high tech industries like aerospace and defence which could require repeat parts will have a long lee way, BUT once the TTT manufactured parts become part of the item being built (plane, rocket, war machine) TTT could make a very nice sum, ongoing. Unfortunately most business moves very slow - even/especially the giants. Most business is unlike Tesla who are continually implementing changes and designing new items to assist in the manufacturing process on a monthly basis. Boeing probably have 20 committees and 5 political gangs to get through before they make a change and test and select a new provider of parts.
