The Koans are lovely but communication regarding UFOs / UAPs and associated lore is not hindered by esoteric understanding. They are visiting this planet or they are not.
There are a great many wonderful anecdotes regarding this phenomena and not one of us plebs can know for certain if they we are being told the truth. Certainly there are events and interviews that seem believable from people who appear to be very genuine, but there are enough improbables associated with this phenomena to at least cause one to be a bit sceptical, the laws of physics for one.
Crop circles are a classic example in that even when the guys who were making them confessed nobody would believe them.
As for religion, well religion comes out of absolute abstraction and the claim is that people appointed as Teachers, Prophets, Manifestations of God translate the unknowable into a knowable form so that scripture can have a tangible effect on those who harken to it.
So even regarding scripture there are a handful of simple obligations that if followed only by those claiming to be religious, it would change the human world. Love thy neighbour, be charitable, do not judge others, eliminate prejudice from your life, work for the equality of the sexes. etc.
So religion and the UFO business are tangible and not necessarily subject to a specialised way of understanding, though of course people bring their baggage to every engagement.
A UFO conversation can't really lead anywhere because we are not first hand observers of the claims being made, but it is deeply interesting and deserves one to have an open mind.
