It’s not scare mongering - financial year end has a number of implications for “regular” investors that professional traders are not concerned with.
Eg professional traders can deduct losses from income in the year they occurred whereas “regular” investors can only deduct losses from other capital gains NOT income. That means they only get one opportunity each year and need to time share sales carefully as losses are only realised when they sell.
