An undisclosed party who is interested in acquiring NEU, lets say a BP, knows they will have to cough up a decent chunk of coin per share. Lets say for arguments sake that is $75 per share. It's in their interest to own as many shares as they can get their hands on at the cheapest price possible under this price to limit the impact to their backpocket. They also know if they are hell bent on acquiring it that others would be too and so this is also a hedge if they aren't successful they can at least make bank from the exercise. Is this in the realms of possibility?
