I've been flat out planting sorghum.
I'm not sure yet YC. I don't think the damage will be massive, but then it's possible 10% has been wiped out. It's hard to say yet. The frost only hit me 13 days ago. The big primeary heads are not filling. Maybe only 20 grains per head when there should be 90. Yet all the smaller heads have missed it, so they are still filling. Hard to work out yet. And it depends where you look. Sometimes I think I've got 100% wiped out and 50 metres away I think there's no damage?
And some earlier planted crops missed the frost at flowering but have grain pinching up anyway.
My agronomist says there are parts of paddocks 90% gone. But only the lower bits. Then the higher bits are 100% OK.
Plenty of wheat and barley are already only 15 cms high, and have 6 weeks to go till ripe. These will be a nightmare by harvest and hard to see much will get picked up by then. Big heads, big yield, big N, big rain, down crops.
I reckon at a guess I've been hit by 20%. My crops will go 4 t/h instead of 5 t/h. They were already down in yield from too much rain and waterlogging.
I'll keep you informed when I know more.
