If Trump is sentenced to 12 months+ in jail are the Republican Party really going to make him their candidate?

If Trump was in jail he couldn't campaign, he couldn't post on social media & he couldn't attend the debates.

If he won he couldn't attend the inauguration & couldn't take meetings or effectively govern for 6 months+

The Republican Party & the US would not only a laughing stock but would in effect be impotent & globally powerless for 6 months+

Are the Republicans really that insanely stupid that they would go down that route?
Are party politics really more important than their country?

One thing I've learned over the years in never underestimate the stupidity of Americans!
