Dear JoJo @Joannie - whatever floats your boat, makes you happy, makes you sing - that's what the music thread is for. smile.png
I don't mind listening to different types of music, because that's what that thread is all about - from the conventional to the outrageous. Motown is very pleasant, I can see why you like it - it also makes you and I am sure, many other people, feel happy!!!
I do think about the state of integration of black people in the United States, when I see those images of happy singers and musicians and wonder what happened - we have improved nothing, not for people of colour, nor for ourselves.

Today, I was supposed to visit granddaughter, but I have the beginnings of a cold and my Covid test didn't work, because all the fluids in the prepackaged test had dried out and I can't afford to pass Covid on to my daughter, who has had a horrific week - So I stayed home.
Daughter who has also been invited to that lunch, has some dodgy neighbours who - on Wednesday - had smashed the driver-side window of her car in, then opened the boot and cut the wires to the lights and ripped out both her front lights - - -

she parks her car in front of her gate on the lawn, and she reckons they got fed-up with having to walk round her car, so they did her this malicious damage. But they are tenants in a Housing Commission home and have a constant stream of visitors - I won't say more - so any one of their casual indi friends could have done it. I have always thought it is a reasonably good neighbourhood, until now. Now I am worried, of course, and am trying to figure out how to make it easy for her to park the car inside her front yard.

There is enough room on the inside of her small indoor courtyard for the car - (she is renting where she lives, landlords are good people) - , but it is a real business opening and closing the wooden gate. So I have been mulling this over, trying to figure out, what to do about the gate, which is a simple wooden gate, drags on the ground a bit and opens to the outside - it is fixed to a wooden post. I do know a few handymen, who will do the job, but first need to know what kind of mechanism can be operated with the help of an electronic device of some sort, so she doesn't have to keep on getting out and in again. She now also works nights, but mostly at her violin studies and rehearsals, so she gets in and out of the car several times a day, and her work as an osteopath is physically demanding.

If any of the guys on here reading this, have any good ideas please let me know. I have just checked out 'spindle' motors - which can probably be attached to a post, which is placed with flat (and fixing) surface at 45 degree angle to the door, or similar and being electric can probably be electronically controlled. Again, a wheel at the bottom of the gate would be helpful.
    - - even a simple chain or rope arrangement, which she could pull from inside her car, when leaving, would be an improvement. but she would then have to leave the gate open, or get out and close it on leaving, again on return, she would have to get out, once, which is better than twice.

If no response, it's all good - everything is complex when money can't be thrown at a solution.

    Have a nice Sunday all
