It would be equivalent of Russia supplying proxy group A (Houthis?) with potent hypersonic missiles and publically saying that its up to them where they strike nothing to do with Russia but then supplying them with satellite intel for NATO shipping and programming the missiles with real time target coordinates then Houthis press the launch button...... At some point NATO would get jack of that I would imagine, particularly if they got lucky and sank a carrier.

UK supply Storm Shadow missiles and target data, program missiles ready for launch and Ukraine launch them. Russians only option is to copycat with some proxy force NATO style or interdict missiles enroute from UK if thats even possible or take out the factory - using anything other than proxy is risking Article 5. Faced with those options a proxy somewhere is the best option.
