If they were serious about gold potential there are numerous ways to get a better understanding rather than a few bags of red sand and standing next to a quartz outcrop. Gold sheds downhill into waterways, a metal detector worth 5grand will pick up sub gram specs up to 50cm deep. Send a fossicker out there to suss it out.
