    I had a friend lock in rates at 7.8% pre GFC.
    I reckon mine were in the low 6s around then...
    I think I paid 200k for my first place in 2002 (including stamp duty etc). Rates were about 6 then as well.
    My workmates were all buying HSV or Ford Ute's lol.
    My salary in 2002 was about 40k.
