I think a patent win in 6-8 months is well off the mark.

It's already been 8 months since the summons and the plaintiff is currently defending a motion to throw their claim out.

Should that motion be denied and the claim stands, there is still a long and winding road (years) to prove infringement and this is where they will be bled dry.

Even in the event of a win, the damages will likely reflect only the value defendant have obtained through the infringement - think enterprise license - and not some large claim for other lost business, which might be awarded in the case where say a competitor had infringed and sold licenses many times over.

Personally, after reviewing the patent application and now the defendant's oral submission, I think there is a good chance now for the motion for dismissal to be carried.
