On what grounds would Trump get special treatment with regard to serving his sentence or appeals?
That he is running for President?
    That he's a former President?
That's an extremely dangerous route to go down.

Just as treating Trump any differently could also set a precedent that would throw the courts into complete chaos for anyone else sentenced on felony charges.

The judge should just sentence Trump to immediate imprisonment for a term of 12 months with parole allowed after 30 days.
That way as a minimum he will serve the minimum punishment for the offences even if he wins his appeal 30 days after sentencing.
Parole being able to be revoked if he is shown again to be in contempt of court.
