As if Russia has ever had more than a single ruler appointed by god (tsars), communists( Lenin, Stalin......),. Yes Putin follows the same pattern as in the past so why all the singular "in his interest" when he is just the next ruler making good or bad decisions and doing things to hold his power like all past leaders. Unless he acts in the majority national interest the people would revolt like in the communist revolution to dispose of the Tsar back in the past and some other group would rise to replace him. Yes in my view he acts in both the national interest and his own is enhanced. Remember Russia is not a democracy.
