    "Boycott Woolworths"

Woolworths (like Coles and IGA) is owned in part by a lot of Aussie Mums and Dads; if you want your money to stay here, you don't have a lot of choice. While Banducci was CEO, Woolworth's share price fell 20% in a year and they paid a lousy dividend of only 3.25%, so their long-suffering shareholders probably deserve our support. Coles has fared a little better and IGA (Metcash) better still, although their customers pay a premium.

Yesterday, I noticed that my local Coles was selling local Strathspey Pink Lady apples for $6.49/kg, but Aldi in the same shopping centre was selling the identical product for $3.49/kg. Somebody is obviously getting ripped off, but if you're happy that it's not you, and for your money to go offshore to a family of German billionaires, your course is clear.

Hopefully the recent Senate inquiry and ongoing ACCC inquiry will keep the retailers honest and deliver better outcomes for producers and consumers alike.
