Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, United Arad Emerates and some other middle easter countries have contributed aid.

Maybe not as much as some should have but they have contibuted.

As far as Australia and other countries providing aid to places like Acheh, the aid is being provided because it is the right thing to do but also because it is the smart thing to do.

Providing aid will not only save lives it will also help prevent instability in the effected countries. The instability that would result form not providing aid due to a vast number of people staving who have lost everything is what the likes of JI and AQ would use to build support and weaken the support of he governments in those countries.

If you think an unstable Indonesia being controled by the likes of JI would not be a danger to Australia then you are a fool.

Another benefit of providing aid is that proves that Australia, the US and other western countries are not anti muslim and that we are prepared to help them when it is needed. Again this helps counter the preaching of the likes of AQ and JI that the West is evil and out to destroy or control muslims. An area that needs a lot of work after Iraq.
