Interesting read. You omitted few important details in that story of yours. The USA occupied Cuba briefly after defeating Spanish forces, then they took a part of their land ( G. Bay) and threatened Cuba with a military action if they entered into a treaty with another country, then they used Cuba as their playground for almost half a century ( especially during the Prohibition era), then they supported the military coup which brought Batista to power, who ruled the country for decades as a real dictator, then after the revolution the USA abandoned Cuba and left it to Castro and in the process they imposed almost a complete embargo against  the country which lasted over 50 years.
