The defence minister said not more than a month ago that they would have no problem with Hanwha owning ASB. So no, I doubt it has anything to do with the Commonwealth. I also doubt the Koreans have that much interest in the AU business – potentially that could even be hived off to Twiggy. Make no mistake this is an American business in everything but name and the Americans (See: Del Toro's comments on a visit to Hanwha's shipyards a few months ago) seem to be encouraging Korean ship builders to invest in American shipyards.
