You may not realise it but a lot of humour touches on human behaviour areas that are a source of tension in society. For example Chris Rocks talks about pissed off wives being a result of them marrying someone that they 'settle for' but did not really want. The main reason the sex disappears after marriage. An uncomfortable truth and thus the area is ripe for humour.
