Heres the ballpark math.

It takes 20GJ heat to make 1 ton steel @1600C.

Lets say it takes 35-40GJ to heat to 2850C.

1kwh = 3,600,000 joules.

It takes about 10,000kwh to refine one ton SGA ore to 2850C.

1kwh cost of production in Kazakhstan is apparently about 10c aud.

So 1000aud to refine one ton ore - if 3 tons ore to make one ton product then $3000 aud to make one ton product, excluding all other costs.

Current spherical carbon price is $1900usd, lets say $3k aud.

So to be profitable at current prices, SGA needs to be selling not for the spherical graphite market.
