Many times taking the simpler explanation gives beater results than results than the complex or evil. At the beginning of the year I thought lower REE prices were 90% China's government interference. Slowly i ma changing to thinking the majority is just old fashion market dynamics. To explain why lets look at Northern Rare earths which is responsible for half China's output.
Government raised quotas 3 times last year, NRE is still producing less than a year ago, Multiple SMM articles on this.
NRE has usually sold for more than spot price. For last 6 months NRE list price has been below Spot price. Multiple SMM articles on this.
End user demand is way below expectations for EVs and some other Uses of Perm magnets including wind generators. Manufacturing was increased on expectations. Yes EV sales are growing but at a fraction of what was expected.
what does this mean for Lynas performance. Market forces are always much easier to for cast and plan for than the attitudes of dictators and manipulators. things always go back and forth like pendulums but if Market is controlling prices much easier to predict. Of course you have to realize they will go back and forth and not up forever. not blame every down side on something evil.
i am sure there is some manipulation the question is, is it responsible for all the down side.
SMM is a chinses company, so it is subject to government influence. But it always gives lots of facts. Could they be corrupt most certainly. what should be used as an alternative. Speculation by many on this board?
