Barnett is a politician at the end of the day, he needs to be seen to be doing something to ensure that there are no further slippages in the schedule.
The way I read it, WA govt will require some 'modest' structural changes to the way the port and rail are delivered, ensure all parties give some kind of undertaking that P&R is No.1. priority going forward, etc so that he is seen to be giving the extension approval, but with conditions...
Could be wrong, but can't see it being anything more drastic than that. What it means for MMX sp - who knows?
