This morning in Newcastle it was very cold.

The Eastern States Energy Grid was being powered ~20% gas fired peaking stations.

Gas is still a $25Gj and AEMO have actually stopped forcasting the gas price.

Unfortunately, I forgot to look at how much diesel power was being used but as of right now while the sun is out. Diesel power is still contributing to the energy grid to the tune of 30MW which via my estimates is equal to +$40Gj.

These high energy cost are being passed on to the consumers which are the mums and dads and also the manufacturers like Tomago Aluminum and Orica Kooragang.

This is a ticking time bomb...
