Labor have never given a total system cost.
The transmission costs have already started to blowout and Snowy 2.0 going from $2 billion in 2017 to an estimate of $12 billion last year so no one will know the final cost, the spend announced in the budget is bound to fall well short.
The only sensible option at this stage is to sight gas turbines in the LV at the old Hazelwood, Yallourn and Loy Yang where the poles and wires are already to use and abundant gas on these sites where gas turbines can be built before the other coal plant close, gas was touted as the transition fuel to renewable energy. Gas IMO is the only answer with todays technology..
