Two CFA Brigade Captains both explained the safety issues of fighting fires around the renewable facilities and the massive Very High Voltage powerlines (inter connectors). They were talking about 100m wide exclusion zones to protect firefighters, current regulations for lower voltage lines are just 25 metres. And remember the Black Saturday Fires in Victoria killed 167 people and these were started along transmission lines.
These two captains were talking on 3AW talkback radio between 3pm and 6pm yesterday. They did also say they have not been properly consulted on these safety issues.
Its not political, it’s safety related.
