On closer inspection, M&G declared on 01/11 that they still held 11.9m shares so it would be slighly irregular if they had transferred 5m shares to Vanguard prior to that date.

My conclusion is that VPMM was able to acquire its initial 5m shares on Sept 28th (or Oct 28th if it is a typo) for a $2.00 average from other nominee accounts that had been working to accumulate 'under the radar' during the past couple of months.

I stand to be corrected if contrary evidence comes to light.

What is very clear though is that CDU is very definitely on the global radar of major players.
