NRL's a game of momentum these days and a team that can't wrestle momentum back can be on the wrong end of a hiding.
The game last night started conservatively for both sides until the Blues had a few back to back sets.
Qld initially held on grimly but no doubt NSW were "on" and soon took control. Qld lacked some real fire and were always on the back foot and couldn't turn the game their way.
NSW were much bigger and stronger and used all of that advantage and made very few mistakes.
Of course, as expected Moses provided a much better kicking game to finish their sets which ensured pressure was rarely released in the 1st half.
QLD still looked dangerous out wide but could rarely get any momentum to use their speed (will we see a more expansive attack in game 3?).
Game over early but at least Qld regrouped and came out in the 2nd half with a much more committed attitude and the game settled into a much better pattern.
Game 3 will most certainly be different and both sides will be desperate. Doubt if Maguire will be overly happy with the Blues lack of penetration in the 2nd half......
Qld always looked a bit thin in the forwards but rely on commitment and desperation from the smaller men. Would be nice to see another Carrigan type forward in the pack and may want to rethink that utility position again. I am sure Billy Slater will be looking at all options.
(Worth keeping in mind how many Cowboys are in the side and their up and down performances this year!)
NSW have to be favourites for game 3 with their big mobile pack but this is origin and we've been here before!
